TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
THE GUIDELINES BELOW CAN BE USED IF THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS OCCUR:
IN CASE OF
No CPU Power
-Check power cable if it is properly plugged.
- Check the power switch of the case if it is properly turned on or check if it has damages. Some power supplies have ON/OFF switch at the back side.
- Check if the power supply is working well. If not, remove the power supply's 20/24pin cable plugged in the motherboard and try to short the green color cable with the black color cable.
No Display with CPU Power
- Make sure that the monitor is working properly. Test it using other CPU.
- Check signal cable of the monitor if properly plugged.
- Check the graphics card's installation. If you hear a beeping sound, try to clean and re-insert the graphics card.
- Check the memory module's installation. If a beeping sound is heard continuously, try to clean and re-insert the memory module.
System Hangs-up / Restarts
- Check the CPU fan if it is properly working.
- Check the memory module's installation. Try to clean and re-insert it if necessary.
- Try to reduce the start-up program in the system tray. If these cannot be done, you may need to upgrade your memory capacity.
- It maybe caused by a system problem! Try to re-install the operating system.
Hardware driver installation
- Check the drivers of your system. All devices have their own driver that must be installed properly to ensure the effectiveness of each devices.
- Double click the system properties located at the control panel and click on the hardware, then device manager. You can see all devices installed on your PC with individual icons. If you notice an icon of "?" with a yellow color, that means the device is not properly installed yet or it has a driver problem.
- Double click on the device you'd like to install a driver. When a new window shows up, click install/re-install driver, then browse the appropriate driver for the device then click "OK". If the driver supply is incorrect, it will ask you to re-install again.
Display with bad quality
- May be the video driver is not installed or corrupted.
- Check the installation of the graphics card and try to clean the contact of your graphic device and re-install it again properly.
No sound output
- Check the connection between the CPU and the speaker.
- Check if the driver is properly installed. Make sure that it is of the same manufacturer. This incident normally occurs in AC'97 sound devices that have many manufacturers.
- If the driver is installed properly, you may need to put a jumper in front of the audio panel. [this works with some motherboards only]
OS installation problem. Hanging-up or restarting frequently.
- Check installation disk, some scratches on a disk are able to cause miscopying of files.
- Check your optical disk drive. Some disk drives may not be able to read the cd driver properly.
- Check the memory module's installation. If it is properly installed and problems still occur, try to clean and re-insert them. If you are using 2 or 3 memory modules, put them one at a time when setting up windows. This will help you determine if one of the memory module has problem.
How to set optical drive to be in first boot?
- Turn on the unit and press the corresponding key to enter in the CMOS/BIOS. It maybe Del, F2, F10, Ctrl+Alt+Del or other key depending on the computer. (It displays the start of the booting.)
- Once in the BIOS SET-UP, look for the SUB-MENU, and check the BOOTING SEQUENCE of the drive. Make sure that the optical drive is the first in the list.
- Save and exit the changes made in the BIOS Set-up.
Windows are not booting continuously.
- This maybe due to failed installation of hardware driver or application program. You can recover it using system restore options. This is done by restarting the PC, then press F8. Select safe mode. Once in the safe mode, click on START, PROGRAM, ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, SYSTEM RESTORE. When a new window appear, click restore my system. Provide the necessary information such as the date wherein your system is working smoothly, then click next and wait until it restarts. [Note: See system restore help guide/information before using the windows.]
- If windows are not booting in the safe mode or if you successfully restored your system in the safe mode but still problems occur, re-install your windows. (But before you do this, make sure that you have a back-up copy of all your created files.)
